Everything that has shipped, newest first. App Store releases need an update from the App Store; app updates arrive on their own the next time you open the app.
App updatev1.3
Print defaults and a viewer tidy-up
Bracket print: the game picker shows plain numbers, and defaults to the last game that is fully entered with every earlier game also in.
Viewer: center listings only show events from the last 15 days. Event links and codes keep working.
App updatev1.3
Print the brackets, and choose the house take
Brackets: a print button prints the brackets as real bracket sheets to post at the center. It asks which groupings to include (all of them by default) and which game to print through (the last one fully scored), and each grouping starts on its own page. Six brackets per page in landscape, or three per page in portrait with lanes. Names and scores fill in as games are entered, winners are marked, and the champion is named under the final.
Event Setup › Scoring: choose what the house keeps from every pot. One entry fee (as before), a percent of the pot, or a flat dollar amount. Default payouts for high game, eliminator and mystery doubles, and the default bracket 1st/2nd split, follow it. Payouts you type yourself are kept as typed.
iPad, iPhone Duo, Android and the web app.
App updatev1.3
Keyboard stays out of the way
Entries grid and Scores: the on-screen keyboard no longer covers the bottom rows. The screen shifts up and the cell you are typing in scrolls into view, on iPad, iPhone Duo and Android.
Scores: a Hide optional toggle drops bowlers whose scores no pot needs, so the list is only what you still have to collect.
App updatev1.3
Grid first, and Paid locks the row
Entries opens in Grid mode. Form is still one tap away and the app remembers your choice.
Name, Paid and Due stay pinned on the left while the pot columns scroll, so settling up never means scrolling sideways.
Ticking Paid locks that bowler’s pots in the grid and on the form. Untick Paid to change them. Groups that have already started stay locked either way.
Web, iOS and Android.
Google Play releasev1.3
Android tab bar and camera fix
Android: the bottom tab bar no longer carries a band of empty space under the labels on gesture-navigation devices. Tablets, folds and phones.
Android: devices without a camera are supported again on Google Play; the QR scanner is optional and the event code can always be typed.
Rolling out through the Google Play closed test (versionCode 4).
App updatev1.3
Winnings: unpaid first
Financials: the Winnings list is split into Unpaid and Paid sections, unpaid on top, the same way Entries Owed works. Web, iOS and Android.
App updatev1.3
Card Game pot, hand-entered mystery scores, verified payouts
Card Game: a new side pot with a name you choose. Pick one game or several, charge one fee for all games or a fee per game. The app tracks who is in and what was collected; the cards are dealt on the lanes. Shows on the viewer and the TV board.
Mystery Pot: a score you type in for a bowler whose game never reached the app now competes like any other score. It wins only if it is closest, shares a tie, and no longer replaces the standings. Typing a name that is not in the pot signs them in.
Financials: Mystery Pot and Card Game payouts can be entered and marked Verified. Until then every screen calls the pool an estimate, since bowlers can buy in late.
Financials: the payout editor scrolls with the winnings list, so a big event no longer pushes the list off screen.
Faster pot tabs: screens you are not looking at stop re-rendering, and the tap-to-add lists are lighter.
Same update on the web app; iOS and Android apps update over the air.
Live viewer
Live results on the center’s TV
viewer.bowlingsideaction.com/tv turns any TV with a browser (or a Fire TV stick) into a results board: brackets, eliminator, high game, Mystery Doubles and Mystery Pot, one panel each.
Pairing: the TV shows a 4-character code and a QR; scan it with your phone, pick the event, and the TV switches. Scan again to point it at a different event.
Remote: arrows move between panels, OK steps through games or pots. A “follow along on your phone” QR sits in the corner.
Google Play releasev1.3
Android on every device
Android tablets run the full director app, landscape only, just like the iPad.
Galaxy Z Fold and Pixel Fold: closed, the cover screen is a live viewer for your event (or the sign-in screen); open it for the director app on the same tab.
Every other Android phone is the bowlers’ viewer: type the five-character code or scan the QR poster, no account needed. The back button steps out of the scanner and the event before it leaves the app.
Rolling out through the Google Play closed test first (versionCode 3).
App updatev1.3
Find a bowler in the grid
Grid mode: a search box beside the Form/Grid toggle narrows the rows to names containing what you type. Return jumps to the first match; totals stay for the whole roster.
Grid mode on the Entries screen: every bowler on one row — name, lane, average, handicap, a count per bracket group (type a number or A for all), a checkbox per high game, eliminator, mystery doubles and mystery pot, plus Paid and Due. Enter moves down a column, Tab moves across.
Click any grid header to sort by it; a pinned totals row shows entries, full and short brackets per group, entrants per pot, and money collected.
Pots are listed in the same order everywhere: handicap first, then scratch, each by start game. Short labels (HDCP, SCR, G1-3) on the grid and the printed sheet.
Printed sign-up sheet: pot headers read top-to-bottom so thirteen pots fit on a page.
Every alert is now the app’s own dialog — one tap per button on iOS 26 (the system alert needed two).
Fixes: the free-tier prompt could appear more than once; backing out of an event with an iPad trackpad could close the app.
Live viewer
Open it in the app
Safari shows an “open in the app” banner on viewer.bowlingsideaction.com; on an event page, Open lands on that event in the iPhone app.
Event links now use the short viewer code (viewer.bowlingsideaction.com/e/CODE).
App Store releasev1.3
iPhone Duo and the iPhone viewer
iPhone Duo: fold it and the cover display is a live viewer for your event; unfold it for the full director app, on the same tab you were watching.
Every other iPhone is the bowlers’ viewer: type the five-character code or scan the QR poster, no account needed.
Bracket Summary shows a ×N multiplier when a bowler meets the same opponent more than once.
Dropped games in best-of series pots show struck through in red (app and viewer).
Add Entry and Clear stay pinned under the sign-up form; Event Setup fits smaller screens.
Web app
Buy Pro on the web
BSA Pro and Event Passes can be bought at director.bowlingsideaction.com. Same prices as the app, and one purchase unlocks the iPad, the iPhone Duo and the web.
App updatev1.1
Roster import and printable sheets
Import a league roster from LeaguePals or LeagueSecretary, or from a standings PDF — names and averages land in the sign-up list.
Print a score-collection sheet from Enter Scores (filled-in scores pre-printed, optional boxes marked) and a sign-up sheet from Entries, both with the viewer QR code. Identical pages on the iPad and in the browser.
Enter Scores: Enter and Tab move down the game column to the next bowler.
Sign in with Google alongside Sign in with Apple.
Web app
The whole app in your browser
director.bowlingsideaction.com runs the complete director app on any computer — same account, same events as the iPad. Keyboard-first score entry and printing straight from the page.
App updatev1.1
Mystery Pot and late sign-ups
Mystery Pot: a side pot with no scoring. Bowlers buy in any time, a number is drawn at the end, closest without going over wins — on the viewer too.
Late sign-ups: once the event is live, a pot keeps taking entrants until its first game starts; bracket groups that start on a later game build themselves when they lock.
App updatev1.1
Print from every tab
Print buttons on Bracket Summary (expanded), Eliminator, High Game and Mystery Doubles.
Refunds show as itemised lines in a bowler’s winnings (app and viewer).
